JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summary/Objective
Our fast-growing Software Support Activity (SSA) works closely with industry and government organizations developing unique software solutions for the DoD. We are currently seeking a professional Technical Writer to join this expanding team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create technical documents and manuals
Explain complex information in a clear and concise manner
Work collaboratively with engineering staff to ensure accuracy of product descriptions
Research, plan, develop, generate, and edit operational procedures and manuals, technical specifications, and test scripts
Produce electronic documentation
Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
Analyze documents to maintain style continuity of content
Produce Software Development Plans (SDPs), and Configuration Management Plans (CMPs)
Create Defect Management Process (DMP), Issue Management Process (IMP), and Software Release Process (SRP)
Generate Software Design Descriptions (SDDs), System/Subsystem Specifications (SSS’s), System Requirements Specifications (SRS’s), Interface Design Descriptions (ICDs), Software Quality Assurance
Reports (SQARs), Operator Manuals (OMs), and Software Test Plans (STPs)

Experience Requirements:
5+ years working in technical writing (software, engineering)
Accuracy and proficiency writing in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
Expert knowledge of all MS Office tools
Proven attention to detail
Education Requirements:
Higher education degree in Science, Engineering, or related field

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as work requirements demand.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required for this position.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
This position requires an active US DoD Secret clearance, at a minimum. Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance a must.
